In the fall of 1984, Michael went off to
college at the University of Bridgeport studying Liberal
Arts. As he got more involved in body building, his dreams
and aspirations moved from professional basketball to boxing
and he began learning to fight.

 |
At age 19 he competed in NAU Region 1 body
building contest and took 4th place. Soon after, he competed
in a kickboxing match and won his first fight by KO in the
2nd round.
|
After 3 semesters at University of Bridgeport, Michael returned
to RI and continued school, taking classes at Bryant and URI
extension. He played on a mens basketball team and lived with
his girlfriend and doberman in Providence.

For a time, he moved
back home, and while working construction and training, his
mom would pack him 9 or 10 sandwiches for work. Mike would always
be eating. He said he had 6 full meals a day to bulk up but
it seemed like even more.
|
Mike worked hard and helped people out whenever he could.
In addition to construction, over the next few years his work
included various sales jobs and work as a door man at some
local clubs. He was cherished by his family, friends, and
coworkers everywhere.
